SATIRE — Anyone out there have connections to Jennifer Aniston and/or her manager/publicist/etc.? If so, please pass this info along: Aging sports columnists are very loyal, personable, and make for GREAT dinner conversation..........TRIVIA QUESTION: The 1987 California Angels had three hitters who struck out more than 100 times that season. Can you name any of these players? Answer to follow..........In my next life, I'd like to return as LPGA golfer Natalie Gulbis' personal physician or masseuse-or BOTH..........Did you know that, in 1922, Harry Heilmann of the Detroit Tigers hit 21 home runs--and that almost HALF (10) of them were hit in Shibe Park vs. the A's? Heilmann batted .356 during the '22 campaign and would follow that up with a phenomenal .403 mark the following season--the best in baseball..........Former WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev once called himself the "White Tyson." Geez, taking into consideration Mike Tyson's track record both in and out of the ring over the past 20 years, I'd say that the fighter from Uzbekistan has a MAJOR inferiority complex.........I'm setting April 15th as the over/under date as to when NFL cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones is involved in his next nightclub altercation..........Answer to trivia question: DEVON WHITE (135), GARY PETTIS (124), and JACK HOWELL (118)..........I'm sorry, folks, but there's something fundamentally wrong when University of Texas basketball coach Rick Barnes received a $200,000 RAISE back in 2007 when most professors at that school didn't earn that in SALARY..........Can you imagine if LPGA golfer Sarah Lynn Sargent ever tied the knot with former NFL wide receiver Webster Slaughter? Wrestling aficionados throughout the land would surely enjoy her walking around the golf course with the married name of Sarah Lynn Sargent Slaughter..........Great line by Ed Randall used during the opening of his baseball talk show that airs on WFAN in NYC: "Baseball is the only game you can SEE on the radio."..........When analyzing some big-salary baseball signings over the past few years, I can honestly say that S.F. Giants pitcher Barry Zito could possibly be the biggest bust this side of Dolly Parton..........From the "Telling It Like It Is" Dept.: WFAN radio host Steve Somers--who once remarked the following on his show: "In New York, you need BRAINS to cope. In L.A., all you need is a tan and a nice car."..........Fially, talk about BAD years. In 1975, former NL All-Star Nate Colbert came to bat 156 times for the Tigers and managed only 23 hits--thus hitting for an average of .147. Colbert then landed in Montreal later that season where he went 14-for-81 for the Expos--an average of .173. Combining everything (if my math is correct), Nate Colbert came to bat over 230 times during the '75 campaign and hit a grand total of just .156. Ughhhhh.
